In 1994 Motown founder Berry Gordy published his biography To Be Loved.
In general he avoided interviews and still does. But with his book came the opportunity for me to talk to the great man. ThisĀ coincided with a Motown TV programme hosted by huge fan broadcaster and author Paul Gambaccini. The programme did not feature publicity shy Berry.
I invited Paul to join me in a transatlantic conversation with Berry Gordy and I have never had an invitation accepted so quickly.
Join us as we get an insight into the Tamla Motown world and a candid account of his dealings with a rosta of recording stars second to none. Stevie Wonder and the music battle on stage with Marvin Gaye, his love for Diana Ross, the wife bootlegging Motown records behind his back and much more.
Part one and two of interview below. Hope you enjoy!
